Inspired by Congressman John Robert Lewis’ superpower—LOVE, DC Sparkle Squad started as an IG account to spark JOY (+ VOTING) in the middle of a global pandemic because of an extra 200 pounds of chalk. Following the horrific murders of Breonna Taylor + George Floyd the Sparkle Squad transitioned into what we thought would be an action or what we like to call an ARTiVATiON for the 2020 March on Washington, on August 28, 2020.

Our SPARKLE posters used Vote.org’s civic engagement technology to share information about the 2020 general election and inspire new voters. We loved. We marched. We sparkled. But, we knew we could and had to do more....
